The search is on for the next rising recording star. According to ABC, this Summer will feature the premiere of it's new reality singing competition "Rising Star."
A new format, where viewers can vote for artists in real time, "Rising Star" is executive produced by Ken Warwick ("American Idol") and Nicolle Yaron ("The Voice") and will feature solo vocalists, duos and vocal groups of up to five members.
Auditions have already taken place in cities like Los Angeles, Atlanta and Chicago. New auditions are set for April 24 in New York and April 26 in Boston.
"Rising Star" completely reinvents the traditional singing competition as–for the first time ever–the audience has the final say in real time. The show follows a group of aspiring singers as they audition in live performances. During the performances, viewers vote via an App in real time to determine if the singer will advance in the competition. If the voting reaches a certain threshold, the performer moves on, and the performer can see how the voting is going during the performance, so the feedback is immediate and dramatic," reports ABC.
