Beyonce Covers OUT Magazine’s May 2014 Power Issue, Talks Double Standard and Sexuality

If you need a female that is fierce, professional, and downright sexy, Beyoncé should always be at the top of the list. That was Out Magazine’s thought process as they selected the international superstar to cover their May 2014 Power Issue.

In the gay lifestyle magazine, Beyoncé channels Marilyn Monroe as she is showcased with curly blonde hair and a pearl necklace in the black & white image. In the issue, the “Drunk In Love” hit-maker opens up about being a strong woman and the double standard a female faces.

“There is a double standard when it comes to sexuality that still persists,” Beyoncé told the mag. “Men are free and women are not. That is crazy.”

She continued with empowering words for folks of her gender: “You can be a businesswoman, a mother, an artist, and a feminist—whatever you want to be—and still be a sexual being. There is unbelievable power in ownership and women should own their sexuality.”

"OUT is a popular gay and lesbian fashion, entertainment, and lifestyle magazine, with the highest circulation of any gay monthly publication in the United States."
