Soulful singer Aloe Blacc has reached the summit on the UK Singles chart.
The significant feat was announced by The Official Charts Company Sunday, noting that his single, "The Man," soared to reach no.1 becoming Blacc's first solo UK number one.
"Congratulations to Aloe Blacc, who has knocked Aussie boy band 5 Seconds Of Summer off the top of the Official Singles Chart today to claim his first solo UK Number 1 today with The Man. The 35-year-old US singer/songwriter, whose real name is Egbert Nathaniel Dawkins III, made his Top 40 debut in 2011 with I Need A Dollar, which peaked at Number 2. Although he appeared unaccredited, Aloe went one better last summer, reaching Number 1 by providing guest vocals for Avicii’s million-selling hit, Wake Me Up," reports The Official Charts Company. "The Man is taken from Aloe’s third album, Lift Your Spirit, which will be released in the UK tomorrow (Monday, April 7)."
In related news, John Legend has reached a new height with "All of Me."
Weeks into its ride on the charts, "All of Me," moved up to no.2 Sunday.
"John Legend’s All Of Me achieves its highest UK chart placing to date, climbing three places to Number 2. Duke Dumont’s former Number 1, I Got U FT Jax Jones, is down one to Number 3, while Route 94’s My Love FT Jess Glynne (4) and Faul & Wad Ad Vs Pnau’s Changes (5) completes today’s Top 5," The Official Charts Company reports.
Ironically, "All of Me" is at no.2 on the Billboard Hot 100 (US) as well this week.
Congratulations to both Aloe Blacc and John Legend. Amazing!
