Tank’s You’re My Star Soars on R&B Charts, Plus Tank Talks New Direction and Music Video

Singer/songwriter Tank's new single, "You're My Star," is soaring on the R&B charts just days after its release.

The first cut of new music from his forthcoming album, "Stronger," the song debuts on the Billboard Adult R&B Songs chart at no. 24 this week. It is also listed among this week's most added records at Urban AC radio.

Stopping by radio station Hot 97, Tank talked about the single last week and the new direction he is taking with "Stronger."

"It's just a happier energy. I've made a lot of sad music. 'Maybe I Deserve.' 'Please Don't Go.' Those have been my staples so now I'm on the brighter side of things," Tank told Hot 97's Ebro and Rosenberg. "I'm feeling good about myself. My money right… It's all working for me. I think this energy works for this music and how I created it. It's something that I've always wanted to do. I've always wanted to sing good music with tempo (and) without compromising my ability to actually sing."

Tank is also gearing up for the release of the "You're My Star" video.

"We're about to work on the video… everything. The You're My Star song sets the entire tone for the entire album from a look, sound… everything," says Tank.
