Frank Ocean Gives Chipotle Their Money Back With a Stern Message: “F**k Off”

Frank Ocean may still find himself in court if bosses at Chipotle Mexican Grill take offense to the way he returned their advance.

As previously reported, the company hired Ocean for $425,000 to record a cover version of "Pure Imagination" from the 1971 movie Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory for an animated TV commercial & campaign dubbed "Scarecrow". The "Novacane" singer was advanced $212,500, but later backed out of the deal to sing the theme song.

Chipotle sued Ocean for the return of their advance plus damages, but the way Ocean returned the funds may prompt the company to still seek damages.

On Monday (Mar. 10), Ocean took to his Tumblr website and posted a photo of a check for $212,500, adding in the memo section: "F**k Off".

The company later hired singer/songwriter Fiona Apple to record the track for the campaign.

I guess we will have to wait to see who gets the last laugh!
