The Divas Come Out for BET Honors 2014 (Video)

Last night, viewers watched a plethora of divas show up and show out on BET Honors to salute a few heavy hitters in entertainment and the community such as Aretha Franklin, Ice Cube, and Berry Gordy.

Hosted by Wayne Brady, divas Mariah Carey, Jennifer Hudson, Karen Clark Sheard, Janelle Monae, and Tamar Braxton all came together to tribute the honorees. Perched atop a piano, Carey channeled Jessica Rabbit in a slinky, boob-barring dress while performing her new single "You’re Mine (Eternal)".

Janelle Monae and Tamar Braxton both honored Berry Gordy: Monae did an energetic short Jackson 5 medley of “I Want You Back” and “ABC,” while Tamar sang Diana Ross hits “Do You Know Where You’re Going To” and “Upside Down.” Hudson and Sheard gave tribute to Aretha Franklin with some soul-stirring sangin’. Hudson, a dream in all white, did Franklin justice when she sang a medley of he hits, and Sheard brought the house to church when she highlighted Franklin’s gospel roots with a rousing rendition of “Amazing Grace.” Franklin’s son and granddaughter also performed for their grandmother, The Queen of Soul.
