Ladies, if you weren’t a fan of Pharrell before, this should get you on the bandwagon. Turns out the mega producer named his upcoming album GIRL because he has nothing but love for women, and more than just in the superficial.
Backstage at the Brit Awards before his performance, Skateboard P explained to Zane Lowe for the first time the title’s meaning, and well, it’s pretty heavy. What may go over the heads of some, the father and husband explained it as an ode of respect to women everywhere, because in essence, without their decisions, the world would cease to exist.
He says:
“I admire women in a lot of ways, but I needed to make sure that everyone knew that. On the surface, I do look and I do like them and I appreciate them in my little dirty ways here and there, but at the core, is what I’m telling you. We need them. Every living breathing human being on this planet regardless to your sexual orientation benefits from two things from a woman: the agreement to enter the act and the agreement to have you. So they have the power.”
GIRL arrives on March 3.
