Who are the best charting girl groups of all time? According to Billboard, the top three groups are The Supremes, TLC and Destiny's Child… in that order.
The Supremes lead the pack ruling the charts with songs like "Baby Love," "Stop! In The Name of Love" and "You Keep Me Hangin' On."
"There have been many girl group smashes in the decades since the Supremes ruled the Billboard charts, no collective has yet to challenge their, for lack of a better word, supremacy," reports Billboard.
Coming in second place, TLC is credited for hits like "Ain't 2 Proud 2 Beg," "Waterfalls," "Creep and "No Scrubs." Destiny's Child follows at no.3 with songs like "Say My Name," "Survivor," Bootylicious," and "Independent Women."
Also including The Pointer Sisters (no.4), Envogue (no.6), Martha & The Vandellas (no.7) and SWV (no.8), the list was tabulated with the Billboard Hot 100 in mind.
"The top 10 all-time girl groups list is based on actual performance on the weekly Billboard Hot 100. Artists are ranked based on an inverse point system, with weeks at No. 1 earning the greatest value and weeks at No. 100 earning the least," reports Billboard. "Due to changes in chart methodology over time, certain eras are weighted differently to account for chart turnover rates over various periods."
The Marvelettes and Spice Girls round out the interesting top 10 list.
