Pharrell Williams' single "Happy" is definitely bringing him happiness!
The 2014 Grammy-winning Producer of the Year, and the fun, snappy song (having went platinum in the UK) is also nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song from the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack. The record will go up against "Ordinary Love" from Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, "Let It Go" from Frozen, and "The Moon Song" from Her.
Being that "Happy" is nominated for a golden statue, it's only right that Williams is set to perform the self-written/produced song at the live Oscar ceremony.
About the concept, Williams told the Los Angeles Times in December, "I wanted to send a reminder: There are lots of reasons to smile. You can be resilient with your smile. Why is it so cool to be mad all the time? Some songs, everybody's so upset."
Tune in to the Academy Awards ceremony live on ABC on March 2, hosted by Ellen DeGeneres at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
