When it comes to fashion these days, celebrities are some of the main representative of different brands and houses, bringing them much publicity and success. Fashion labels are known for using different celebrities such as actors, singers, and rappers to promote their new collections, accessories, cosmetics, and more. Recently Erykah Badu became the new face for Givenchy, Lady Gaga is the face of Versace, and Rihanna is representing for Balmain. What makes these collaborations intriguing are those designers choose the endorsers based on their personalities, imagery, musical sound, and creative genius. Here’s a list of a few celebs we would like to see collaborate with the fashion world.
We gave you ten brand and artists collaborations. What artist and brand do you think would make a great collaboration?
Lupita Nyongo x MAC Cosmetics
Lupita Nyong’o is gaining a lot of success these days due to her breakout role in Steve McQueen’s film “12 Years A Slave” and not only is she a remarkable actress, but also a rising fashion icon. Her stunning red carpet looks over the past couple of weeks have been memorable to say the very least.
Lupita’s makeup artist Nick Barose adds a pop of color to the eyes and bright lips to Yale-educated actress which helps grab camera attention. It would be interesting to see her do a line of lipsticks for MAC. It wouldn’t be surprising if she even becomes the new face for the brand in the near future.
Kendrick Lamar x Cortz
The Compton MC has made waves the past couple of years for his album ‘good kidd m.A.A.D. city’ and he always puts on for the West Coast when on stage. In a recent interview about his style, he talked about his favorite kind of sneakers, and he said he’s particularly fond of Nikes, specifically the Cortez style. What would be better than K.Dot collaborating with Nike to make an exclusive Cortez shoe with his own style and spin on it? Maybe it could be part of a new promotion for his highly anticipated follow-up album.
Will.i.am x Giuseppe Zanotti
The front man for The Black-Eyed Peas is definitely known for his quirky style. Taking hints of futuristic and almost dystopian like elements into his own gear, will.i.am would be great if he collaborated with fashion house Giuseppe Zanotti for some sneakers. Stepping out in quite a few of the shoes himself, what would it be like if he put some of that futuristic electronic bass flair he has in his music, into some custom Zanotti sneakers? Definitely would be an interesting collaboration if it ever happened.
Kanye West x Alexander Wang
With so many different fashion collaborations under his belt and with his upcoming A.P.C. collection, one more couldn’t hurt right? Seen at Alexander Wang’s shows and even referencing him in “New Slaves,” Kanye could definitely do something cool with this fashion house. Alexander Wang is known for his signature black designs within his collections and he’s even been named the creative director for Balenciaga, another brand Kanye rocks. These two creative minds could come together and deliver a stunning, dark, and powerful collection for sure.
Justin Timberlake x Tom Ford
'Mr. Suit and Tie' himself is such a big fan of Tom Ford that he wore a suit for his album packaging, to his wedding (and also most of the people in attendance), to even personally having over six-hundred pieces be designed for his 20/20 Experience Tour. If that doesn’t say passion for fashion, then what does? JT is known for his clean and tailored looks and since he loves Tom Ford, it would be great to see what he could with master of the suit. Maybe a line of dinner jackets or shoes? The possibilities could be endless.
Drake x Missoni
Back in 2011, Drake gave an interview with GQ Magazine about his favorite Missoni sweaters and jokingly or perhaps seriously, talked about doing a line of sweaters with the fashion house. The Italian fashion house is known for their knit sweaters and outerwear, which are versatile and stylish, just like Drake’s fashion sense. A collection of Missoni sweaters by the Toronto native would definitely be something dope to see if it came to fruition. Our fingers are crossed it’ll finally happen
Lorde x Dr Martins
These boots have definitely made a resurgence over the past couple of years evoking a time where flannel and denim ruled everything. If you know anything about Dr. Martens, you know they are the shoe for angst ridden, alternative, rebellious souls out there in the world. Lorde’s debut album ‘Pure Heroine’ made waves this past year even so much so that it earned her a Grammy Award. Her music is filled with synthetic and dark tones, layered with misty vocals that call to the young grunge and punk kids everywhere. Even her personal style is very vintage and her doing a collaboration for the UK based shoe brand would be cool for sure. Interesting prints and dark, rich colors would probably be a theme within the Lorde x Dr. Martens collection.
Pharrell Williams x Brixton
Timeless, fresh, clean, retro, and vintage are only a few words to describe this fashion brand started in 2004 so who better to collaborate with them other than Mr. Timeless himself? At forty Pharrell Williams looks the same as he did two decades ago. Brixton and Pharrell’s clean cut looks are modern, but also traditional drawing on early time period influences. Their hat collections are out of this world, and we could definitely see Pharrell putting his magic retro spin on some of their wide-brim caps.
Janelle Monae x Coty
Perfumes and colognes are just as important to fashion as the clothes, makeup, and accessories are and nothing says style more than a signature scent. Celebrities are known for their fragrances, which are crafted to fit their personal aesthetics and image. Janelle Monae is definitely someone who could craft a perfume that would smell as electric as she is. Already a Covergirl, Janelle could definitely take it a step further with creating a signature fragrance to reflect her personal and distinctive style.
Solange and Beyonce x Kenzo
The Knowles sisters are known for their distinctive sounds and looks that they flood on social networks such as Instagram and Twitter. Their own mother Tina Knowles has the House of Deréon, so the fashion gene runs deep in this family. We would love to see the sister collaborated with fashion house Kenzo, who have both been seen wearing pieces from the colorful brand. The vivid colors and wild prints are what makes the label stand out on either Beyonce or Solange.
