Today, two heavily gifted R&B singers release new albums for the people. It’s been quite a while since J. Holiday and Algebra Blessett dropped albums, so this time around, both artists are unleashing a load of emotions and personal experiences.
J. Holiday – Guilty Conscience (PURCHASE)
After a five year hiatus from commercial releases, "Bed" hitmaker J. Holiday returns with his third studio album, Guilty Conscience. Let by the singles “After We F*ck,” a no-holds-barred tune guaranteed to heat up your boudoir and the flattering “Incredible,” the set features production from Lil Ronnie, Jerry Wonda, Blaq Smurph and Mike Snoddy, and will bring listeners up to date with Holiday's musical journey since his retreat from the industry.
“This record has been a long time coming, and I am just beyond excited that my fans will have an opportunity to hear it,” says J. Holiday.
He told Singersroom opened up to SR about his creative process: “This is the first time I actually creatively sat down with one producer to do an album. Creatively it felt good to have someone understand exactly what I was trying to accomplish. It’s easy to grab a bunch of great records and say that’s my album. However, this time we are trying to tell a story from track one to track twelve … from beginning to end. You will see the trailer for what we have coming out.”
Algebra Blessett – Recovery (eOne) (PURCHASE)
Atlanta’s soulful sweetheart Algebra Blessett returns with her sophomore album, Recovery, the follow-up to her 2008 debut effort, Purpose.
“The album itself is pretty much a compilation of these songs that I’ve been recording since Purpose, or a couple of years after the release of Purpose,” Algebra told Singersroom. “It’s a journey through life’s experiences and the healing process of so many things, not just love and heartache, but just something we as human beings do without even knowing it. Cells regenerate, we heal, we don’t know that that’s a process to grow in order to get to the next place in life.”
Algebra will celebrate the release of her album tonight at S.O.Bs in New York City.
