Demi Lovato Leaving ‘X Factor’: I’m Dedicated To New Album

Demi Lovato is choosing her own music over a return to "X Factor USA" next year.

Lovato and Simon Cowell confirmed the news Wednesday, with Lovato saying she wants to focus on an upcoming tour and production of her next studio album.

"I started the show being a singer and a musician, and so I'm going to go back to that. It's been really great, but I'm so excited for 2014," Lovato told THR. "I'm going to dedicate it completely and entirely to music – touring and making a new album. Possibly releasing one."

As previously reported, Lovato is also working on a memoir, which is part of a multi-book deal with Feiwel and Friends, an imprint of Macmillan.

In related news, it's unclear if "X Factor USA" will return with the same format next year. Ratings for the series have been down throughout this season. If the series does return on FOX next Fall, Simon Cowell has stated that a number of changes would take place.
