Bruno Mars Triumphs Over Rihanna, Timberlake, More For Billboard’s “Artist of the Year”

Bruno Mars will end 2013 with another career milestone for his growing resume. The Soul/Pop superstar beat out Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift and more for Billboard’s coveted “Artist of the Year” crown.

With the release of his sophomore album, Unorthodox Jukebox, which sold 1.8 million albums and produced three top ten singles, Mars has been a force to be reckoned with in the last year.

According to Billboard, the singles charts also provided a huge push in his crowning: “When I Was Your Man” was No.1 for a week, “Treasure” debuted at No.5 and his biggest hit “Locked Out Of Heaven” spent six weeks in 2 positions on the Hot 100 list.

"There's been so many awesome moments this year," Mars told Billboard. "The highlight was going on tour and doing the Moonshine Jungle tour with my boys, with my band. And to able to see the world playing these songs."

The trek will continue February 2014 for concerts in Australia and New Zealand, has already logged 40 sold-out dates in North America.
