It might have taken seven albums to get there, not including a re-release, but Rihanna has notched 10 million in album sales.
Billboard broke the news Saturday, tallying up Rihanna's U.S. album totals to date, including her best selling effort to date, "Good Girl Gone Bad," which has sold 2.8 million copies in the United States.
"Rihanna surpassed 10 million albums sold in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The diva's catalog moved another 5,000 copies in the week ending Nov. 10, bringing her total sold to 10,001,000," reports Billboard.
Also included in the total are "Unapologetic," her latest album, which has now sold 1.113 million copies; "Talk That Talk" (1.118 million); "Loud" (1.761 million); "Rated R" (1.110 million); "A Girl Like Me" (1.349 million); and "Music of the Sun" (609,000).
While this is great news, Rihanna hit 10 million in sales a long long time ago if you look at her single sales. Just to put it in perspective, combined U.S. only sales of "Umbrella," "Don't Stop The Music" and "Disturbia" totaled over 12.35 million. More recent singles "Diamonds" and "Stay" total over 6.408 million thus far.
As previously reported, Rihanna will be honored with an Icon Award at next Sunday's American Music Awards.
