Katy Perry’s Prism Album Debuts At No.1, Fifth Harmony Follows

Katy Perry has the number one selling album in the U.S.

According to Billboard, Perry's anticipated studio album, "Prism," debuted at no.1 on the coveted Billboard 200 Wednesday.

Led by the single "Roar," Perry's "Prism" debuted with 286,000 copies sold in the U.S., giving her the best debut for a female artist in 2013.

"Among women, she surpasses Miley Cyrus' "Bangerz" for the year's biggest sales week. ("Bangerz" bowed at No. 1 with 270,000 three weeks ago.) Among pop sets, only Daft Punk's "Random Access Memories" had a larger frame this year, when it debuted with 339,000," reports Billboard. "PRISM" also tallies the debut largest week for a female pop artist's album since Madonna's "MDNA" bowed at No. 1 with 359,000 on the April 14, 2012, chart."

In related chart news, "X Factor" formed group Fifth Harmony has debuted within the top 10.

"Better Together," their debut EP project, sold 28,000 copies during the sales week, giving them a chart position of no.6.

Containing six songs, "Better Together," is the highest charting effort to come from an "X Factor USA" act.
