After being diagnosed with stage 1 bile duct cancer, frontwoman Sharon Jones of Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings must be triumphantly conquering the disease, because her and her band are back with a new, sassy single called “Retreat!” from their upcoming album, Give The People What They Want.
Directed by artist Lizzi Akana, the video is a colorful animation of Jones as she confidently takes on and triumphs over a fantasy world of evil critters. “Retreat! / Step back boy because you can’t fix crazy / Retreat! Rise your white flag high cuz I’m coming in blazing,” she assuredly sings.
"Give The People What They Want” will be out in January 2014 on Daptone Records.
