Grammy winner and "Side Effects of You" singer Fantasia Barrino is ready for a major return to the Broadway stage in "After Midnight."
Beginning rehearsals for her role in the jazz-age musical revue, which is set during the height of Duke Ellington's reign at the Cotton Club in Harlem, NY, Fantasia shared a few images via Instagram Tuesday. She also sat down with Broadway, dishing on the opportunity and revealed just how she plans to tackle her role.
"It feels good, but scary at the same time. I'm a very emotional person, so I tend to embody these roles and carry them with me," Fantasia shared with Broadway.com. "If you listen to the lyrics, these women were in a lot of pain, there were dark moments in their lives."
As previously reported, Toni Braxton and Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds will also appear in "After Midnight" later this year. Fantasia will begin performances on October 18.
