Lady Gaga's "Applause" single may not be roaring towards the top spot as fast as Katy Perry's latest single, but it is growing.
According to Billboard, Gaga's lead single for "ArtPop" lifted this week, moving 6-4 on the Hot 100.
The rise of "Applause" can be credited to the release of the music video and a huge jump in streams.
"What fuels its Hot 100 rise the most, however, is the premiere of its official video on Aug. 19: "Applause" boasts the biggest increase on Streaming Songs, where it pounces 9-3 (6 million, up 106%). (77% of the streaming for "Applause" stems from VEVO on YouTube views.)," reports Billboard.
In terms of sales, "Applause" is actually down this week, seeing a 25 percent drop from 218,000 copies sold to 163,000 copies sold.
"Applause" is, however, no.1 on the Dance/Electronic Songs chart for a second week. It is also up 40-35 on the Radio Songs Chart.
"Applause" is expected to garner a significant boost on the next chart update thanks to Gaga's MTV Video Music Award performance Sunday.
