Usher says his son, Usher Raymond V, is doing well and is recovering thanks to the efforts of doctors, nurses, his aunt and the two men that saved his life after a pool accident.
"I am blessed and fortunate to say that my son Usher V is doing well and is recovering. I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of prayers, love and support for my family's well-being. I would like to thank my Aunt Rena as well as the doctors and nurses who are working with us around the clock," Usher said in a statement released early Thursday.
As widely reported, Usher Raymond V, also known as Cinco, was swimming in the family pool (in Georgia), trying to retrieve a toy that had fallen in the pool, when his arm got stuck in the pool drain. When his aunt, Rena Oden, was unable to free his arm, two men rushed in and were able to save his life.
"I would especially like to thank the two men who saved my son's life, Eugene Stachurski and Ben Crews. They are true heroes and I am deeply grateful to them," Usher added in his statement.
