Syleena Johnson and her family walked into a taping for "Iyanla, Fix My Life" and walked away with some breakthrough moments, better understanding and a lot of resolve.
In the inspiring episode, which aired Saturday night on OWN, the "Guess What" and "R&B Divas Atlanta" talent was able to confront her mother about being bullied and learned behavior, including coping mechanisms and struggles with emotions, including fear and weakness.
"When my mother speaks I hear victim. There is never any understanding of the other side. It's always about what she feels. What she views. Her views. That's how it is," Syleena Johnson said, being honest, for the first time, with her mother, who bullied her as a child. "I don't want to be mad at you. I don't want to be resentful of you… This is what I need you to know. I felt bullied by you. I feel bullied by you everyday. It makes me feel defensive, resentful and like this (tense) all the time, which makes me feel stressed, nervous and scared."
