Female front woman Sharon Jones, of the Dap-Kings, was recently diagnosed with stage 1 bile duct cancer. "Over the last few weeks I haven't felt good, and I didn't know what was going on. We sadly had to cancel shows while I went through a series of tests and short hospital stays," said Jones.
The illness appears to be curable through a surgical procedure due to the fact that it was caught early. Jones assures fans that she will return following medical instructions. "I'll be staying in touch and keeping my fans and friends updated on my progress," she adds.
As a result, Jones and the band will postpone tours and the planned release of their upcoming project, "Give the People What They Want."
