John Legend is back and promoting a brand new single titled "Who Do We Think We Are" (ft. Rick Ross). Making an appearance on BET's 106 & Park Wednesday, the Grammy winning recording artist not only spoke about the album, including the fact that it will be out this Summer, but plans for a tour and his thoughts on the changing landscape of music and the decline of album sales.
"I'm really proud of the album. It's coming out this Summer," Legend told BET's 106 & Park of "Love In The Future." "I'm still me. I'm still that guy that sings soul music, but we also want to continue to innovate at the same time and evolve and so that's the way we approached this album."
Led by the single "Who Do We Think We Are," Legend says the goal was to make music that people will love and support.
"I want to do it all. I want to sell records, but a lot has changed. It used to be (where) you would expect a pretty well known artist to definitely go Platinum, where as I think now, Gold is the new Platinum. A lot of people are pretty happy to go Gold now because people are buying fewer album units than they used to, but you can still build a great audience," Legend shares in video below.
"We want to reach as many people as we can. We want to make music that people love and we want to make music that we're really proud of. If we do that, I figure the sales will come in one way or another. If I make music that I'm proud of then the sales will come."
To that end, John Legend will be hitting the road this Summer, playing a few festivals in Europe. He will then embark on a North American tour in the Fall.
