The Grammy Recording Academy will mix music and politics on April 17th at GRAMMYs on the Hill Awards in Washington D.C., and Jennifer Hudson is an honoree. Slated to receive The Academy's Recording Artists' Coalition Award for her achievements as an artist and philanthropic efforts, Hudson's credits fit the honor: she has two chart-topping albums, and the Julian D. King Gift Foundation in honor of her slain nephew.
Recording Academy President/CEO Neil Portnow states, "She is one of the industry's most enduring, giving and gifted women, and we are privileged to be honoring her artistry, her commitment and her generosity."
Being held at the Hamilton Crown Plaza Hotel, the event will host a cocktail hour and dinner, and acknowledge political legislators whose work (in some shape or form) influenced musicians. Proceeds will go to the GRAMMY Foundation's Signature Schools program, which funds struggling music programs in schools across America.
Congrats Jennifer!
