Kandi Burruss, Mariah Carey & Kiah Victoria Lead Top 10 Most Popular R&B Singles of the Week (2/23/13)

A little controversy surrounded the release of Kandi Burruss’ inspirational single “Stay Prayed Up;” it was seen as clashing with the entrepreneur of the imitate toy line. People may have click the play button because they were for or against her message on the new record, either way Kandi has everybody’s attention.

“I knew when I decided to do it that I would be criticized. That’s to be expected,” she wrote. “I am honest about who I am. My great grandfather and grandfather were Bishops in The Church of God Holiness. I believe in God but I have always struggled with the rules of the church, just like a lot of people.”

The interest of the No. 1 single “Stay Prayed Up” is proof of the complexity of the human balancing the good and bad.

Following Kandi is Mariah Carey in the second position with “Almost Home.” The American Idol judge keeps fans waiting on her next solo effort, while recording a track for Disney’s upcoming fantastical adventure film Oz the Great and Powerful. The third spot on Singersroom’s Most Popular R&B Singles of the Week is newcomer Kiah Victoria’s new wave soul record "Lover's Anthem.”
