Singer/songwriter Lloyd says "it's better to be underrated than overrated" when it comes to music right now. Talking about his latest project, "Twerk Off," Lloyd stopped by Power 106 LA and said tempo, like on this track featuring Juicy J, is starting to be everything for him.
"For me, tempo is starting to be everything because you know, the last few songs I put out like "Lay It Down," "Cupid," "All of Me" — it's a little bit slower than the mix show, strip club and all the places I love to frequent. I think that it was really about owning the club," Lloyd told Power 106. "Twerk Off" is just something that we did… It felt real good. I just wanted to put it out. I didn't want to sit on it. Juicy J just rocked it. My man Drumma Boy produced. I just put it out there to see how the people feel. I really like it a lot."
That said, Lloyd could be shifting a little bit on his next album, which he has started work on with Drumma Boy.
"I just started recording some new stuff. Started with Drumma Boy. I don't like to work with a lot of people because they clutter the space, but at this point it's so early it's kind of premature to speak on it. The records that we did is really cool so we'll see," said Lloyd.
With the mixtape "The Playboy Diaries" available now, Lloyd is looking for the right songs and is in no rush to just throw something, anything out, on his album.
"We just trying to find the right thing more so than anything," said Lloyd.
