Rihanna Talks Chris Brown: ‘I’d Rather Live My Truth, Take The Backlash’

"He doesn't have the luxury of fu**ing up again" — For the first time, Rihanna is opening up about her renewed relationship with Chris Brown. Not only is she honest about his past, the abuse and the possibility of it happening again, she's also willing to accept any and all "backlash" that comes from being with him.

Breaking it all down in the latest issue of Rolling Stone, which hits newsstands Jan. 31, Rihanna delivers the following points:

1. It Was More Important To Be Happy
"I decided it was more important for me to be happy. I wasn't going to let anybody's opinion get in the way of that."

2. It's My Mistake
"Even if it's a mistake, it's my mistake. After being tormented for so many years, being angry and dark, I'd rather just live my truth and take the backlash. I can handle it."

3. It's Different Now
"When you add up the pieces from the outside, it's not the cutest puzzle in the world. You see us walking somewhere, driving somewhere, in the studio, in the club, and you think you know. But it's different now. We don't have those types of arguments anymore. We talk about shit. We value each other. We know exactly what we have now, and we don't want to lose that."

4. Prepared To Walk
"He doesn't have the luxury of fucking up again. That's just not an option. I can't say that nothing else will ever go wrong. But I'm pretty solid in the knowing that he's disgusted by that. And I wouldn't have gone this far if I ever thought that was a possibility."

Rihanna’s loyal fanbase has been with her through thick and thin, but there’s one topic she continues to remain open about- her past relationship with Chris Brown. In a recent interview, Rihanna made it clear that even though the public may not always agree with her decision to rekindle their friendship, she would rather take the backlash than live a lie.

Since their tumultuous split in 2009, Rihanna and Chris Brown have had an on again off again relationship. Despite continued speculation from fans as to why they’ve reconciled after so many years of hurt feelings, both stars have remained tight lipped about what exactly drew them back together. That was until recently when Rihanna opened up to Oprah Winfrey during an intimate conversation for her “Oprah At Home” series.

The 32 year old singer left no stone unturned as she talked candidly about how being honest is more important to her than worrying about people’s opinions or assumptions. This article will explore all aspects of this emotional subject including where things currently stand between the two singers and why Rihanna decided now was the time to speak out against societal pressures.

The Story Behind Rihanna And Chris Brown

Rihanna and Chris Brown’s tumultuous relationship has been at the forefront of pop culture since 2009. The former couple had a highly publicized domestic violence incident that resulted in Chris Brown pleading guilty to felony assault. Since then, Rihanna has opened up about her experience with Brown, expressing how difficult it was for her to heal from what happened.

While both artists have moved on from their past—Brown is now married and Rihanna is single—the singer recently spoke out about the backlash she faced when they reconciled after the attack. In an interview with Vogue magazine last year, Rihanna discussed how people criticized her for getting back together with Brown saying, “I was very protective of him…It was a weird, confusing space to be in because as angry as I was – as angry and hurt and betrayed – I still loved him.”

Ultimately, Rihanna decided not to succumb to public opinion but instead follow her own path: “I realized how toxic it was for me to stay in a relationship just because society said this is the right thing to do.” She concluded by emphasizing that she would rather live truthfully than worry about other peoples’ judgments.

Rihanna’s Reflection On The Past Relationship

Reflecting on her past relationship with Chris Brown, Rihanna acknowledged that it was a difficult journey and she faced many challenges along the way. She revealed that there were times when she felt pressured to stay in the relationship because of what society expected from her. However, she ultimately chose to prioritize her own truth over other people’s opinions.

Rihanna emphasized that it took courage for her to make this decision and stand by it despite all the backlash she received. In addition, Rihanna shared how empowering it was for her to take control of her life and live authentically instead of letting others dictate how she should act or feel.

By being honest about her experience and speaking out, Rihanna showed immense strength and resilience in overcoming the obstacles associated with such a tumultuous relationship. Her story serves as an inspiration for those who are struggling in relationships where they don’t feel heard or respected. Rather than succumb to pressure, Rihanna has encouraged us all to put ourselves first—to listen to our hearts before anyone else’s voices.

Conclusion

I think Rihanna’s decision to speak out about her previous relationship with Chris Brown is admirable. She has chosen to live her truth and take the backlash that comes along with it, rather than stay silent or ignore what happened in the past. This shows both strength and courage on her part; she is taking ownership of her experiences and not shying away from the difficult conversations that come with them.

In doing so, I believe Rihanna is setting an example for other women who have gone through similar situations. By being honest about her own story, Rihanna encourages other survivors to do the same if they feel comfortable enough. It can be extremely healing to share your story, especially when you know there are people who will support and listen without judgement.

Rihanna’s experience serves as a reminder that we should never be afraid to stand up for ourselves and tell our stories – no matter how hard the consequences may seem at first glance. We must never forget the power of speaking our truths.
