Prince is set to receive another well deserved honor. We reported earlier this month that the music legend will be honored for his contribution to music during an annual concert at Carnegie Hall in March, an event aimed at raising money for music education.
Now, the "Purple Rain" hit-maker is set to be celebrated at the Billboard Music Awards on May 19 during its live broadcast from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter, who will give a rare performance during the televised event, will receive the Icon Award.
Prince will join legends Stevie Wonder and Neil Diamond, who were the first two to receive the honor.
Prince has produced ten platinum albums and thirty Top 40 singles in his music career.
