Prince to be Honored at Annual Fundraising Concert at Carnegie Hall
Pop legend Prince will be honored for his contribution to music during an annual concert at Carnegie Hall in March, which aims to raise money for music education. The Roots, Talib Kweli, the Blind Boys of Alabama, and others has been tapped to pay homage to the Purple man.

Set for March 7th, the annual event, thrown by New York entrepreneur Michael Dorf, founder of City Winery, has raised over $700,000 for music programs like the Church Street School of Music, Young Audiences New York, Music Unites and the Pinwheel Project. The beneficiaries this year will also include the American Symphony Orchestra’s Music Notes, Little Kids Rock and the Center for Arts Education.

“Prince is one of the most prolific songwriters in my collection, and he makes my Top 10 when I think about the artists who have truly shaped modern music,” Mr. Dorf said in a statement.

Past honorees include the Rolling Stones, the Who, R.E.M., Joni Mitchell, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, Neil Young and Bob Dylan. Other acts on the line-up include Booker T., Living Colour, DeVotchKa and Madeleine Peyroux.

Tickets are available at Carnegie Hall’s box office and online.
