Jermaine Dupri will celebrate So So Def’s twenty year legacy with an all-star anniversary concert on February 23, 2013 at Fox Theater in Atlanta, GA.
“Not only is it an honor to be able to stand here 20 years after our very first release in 1993…but it’s truly an achievement that we can bring everyone back together to celebrate over two decades of music excellence,” said Dupri.
For the announcement of the special event, current and former artists of the label including Jagged Edge, Dondria, Xscape, Dem Franchise Boyz, BoneCrusher, joined Dupri at Atlanta City Hall for the press conference.
Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed honored Dupri for helping to make Atlanta a hot bed for entertainment. “This milestone is another example of why Atlanta is the entertainment capital of the Southeast. I am pleased that So So Def has called our great city home for 20 years,” said Mayor Kasim Reed.
So So Def launched the careers of 3LW, Bow Wow, Da Brat, Anthony Hamilton, J-Kwon, The Ghost Town Djs; the company has left an imprint on urban music with its string of hits.
In addition to the concert, a twenty song compilation of the ‘Best of So So Def’ will be released in June.
