In honor of October representing Domestic Violence Awareness Month, M. Josephine partnered with local non-profit Women Rising to bring awareness to DV issues and the services victims can benefit from. As part of her EP Tribute to J. Dilla, Josephine wanted “Push On” to convey a powerful message not just in the lyrics but in the visuals it serves. It hopes to inspire and uplift those experiencing an abusive relationship, whether physical, emotional or psychological. The music video shows the highs and lows of any relationship but most importantly, it shows how one can be empowered even after a battered situation.
Millions of lives worldwide are lost due to domestic violence. While one country seems so far away from another, we should still act as a village, for it takes a village.
