Add “Diamonds” to Rihanna’s expanding catalog of no.1 charting singles. The MTV Video Music Award winning talent’s single shot straight to no.1 Sunday thanks to 105,000 copies of the single being sold.
According to the UK’s Official Charts Company, “Diamonds” was in a close race for no.1 with One Direction’s “Live While We’re Young” and closed the gap with nearly 19,000 in additional sales.
“The Bajan singer’s latest track was a mere 250 copies behind One Direction’s new single, but today it finishes the week nearly 19,000 ahead of the British boyband with sales of over 105,000 copies,” reports Official Charts. “Diamonds is Rihanna’s sixth Official Singles Chart Number 1 as a lead artist and seventh overall.”
How about that…
As previously reported, “Diamonds” debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at no.16 Thursday. The single sold 133,000 copies stateside.
