Motown Records is legendary. Responsible for propelling Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, and Stevie Wonder to fame, the label has since dwindled in popularity in recent years. However, ever since Ne-YO has taken on role as Motown’s senior vice president of A&R as well as being an artist on the label, the Motown name is getting a much needed jolt.
The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter’s newest single “Let Me Love You (Until You Learn To Love Yourself)” has hit #1 on the UK’s national chart, making it his 5th #1 UK single, and his first UK Motown #1. It is also Motown’s first UK #1 in 20 years since Boyz II Men’s “End of the Road” in 1992. If Ne-Yo’s platinum success with his previous label Def Jam is any indicator of what’s to come, it looks like Motown should prepare to be put back on the map!
Ne-Yo will perform “Let Me Love You (Until You Learn To Love Yourself)” on the season finale of America’s Got Talent this Thursday, September 13th on NBC. The single is off his upcoming album, “R.E.D.”, dropping on Nov. 6th.
