Trey Songz Breaks Record With ‘Chapter V’ Atop Billboard 200

Trey Songz is officially a Billboard 200 albums chart-topping artist.

The “Simply Amazing” singer’s fifth studio album, aptly titled “Chapter V,” debuted at no.1 Wednesday.

Featuring songs like “2 Reasons” and collaborations with Jeezy, Lil Wayne, T.I. and Meek Mill, his album debuts with a total of 135,000 copies sold (Billboard).

Songz came close to a no.1 debut with his last album, “Passion, Pain & Pleasure,” but fell short landing at no.2. Sales of that album did however exceed this one, debuting with 240,000 copies sold.

“Each of Songz’s albums have peaked progressively higher on the Billboard 200, culminating in his first No. 1 this week. His debut set, 2005’s “I Gotta Make It,” topped out at No. 20 and it was followed by 2007’s “Trey Day,” which hit No. 11. Then “Ready” reached No. 3 in 2009 and of course, “Passion” claimed the No. 2 slot,” reports Billboard.
In related news, Trey Songz has been touring the U.S. in support of the album. His stops have included Atlanta, Philadelphia and Baltimore.
