Could “R&B Divas” star Nicci Gilbert and Brownstone come together for a new album or similar effort ? According to Gilbert, a few songs or a live DVD are a possibility.
“We’re toying with the idea of Christmas records, maybe even a live Brownstone DVD for the fans,” Nicci Gilbert told Black Enterprise in a recent interview.
Following the premiere of “R&B Divas,” a show she calls “very candid,” Gilbert also spoke about advice she received from Michael Jackson. Signed by Jackson as part of Brownstone, Gilbert says the simplest things he said have stuck with her.
“I had an opportunity to talk to him and I [told him] I’m nervous because [we’re] your first artist. He said, “It’s not about competing with me. I signed you because you’re talented. Be the best you can be,” Gilbert recalls. “I didn’t even realize the impact of that conversation until after he passed. I know I have an obligation to continue his legacy.”
While we wait on new music or even a live DVD, which is a really good idea, “R&B Divas” will be airing Monday nights at 10 p.m. on TV One. Faith Evans, Monifah, Keke Wyatt and Syleena Johnson are also featured on the series.
