EXCLUSIVE: Ray Lavender Dishes on Why He Wanted To Become a R&B Star

Ray Lavender has been able to seduce seducers and make love to lovers. He is a ladies’ man in every sense of the word. But it takes experiences and thorough training to make a man such as Mr. Lavender. You can’t just throw anyone into nice clothes and expect smooth to ooze on out. This starts from kissing girls in the playground and writing cute letters to the prettiest girl in the school. Ray told us a secret about the day he realized how to get the ladies and what he was going to be for the rest of his life … a smooth R&B singer.

“I realized I wanted to really do this music thing when I saw the reaction the girls from my neighborhood had for New Edition. My mom and dad had bought my sister the “All For Love” tape with the single “Count Me Out”. My sister took that tape outside to her friends. My sister and her friends were so excited. They actually opened it together and picked the artists they had a crush on … Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky, Mike and Ralph. They all had their favorites and from then I realized I wanted to do that,” Lavender told Singersroom.

Thanks to Ralph, Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky and Mike (New Edition), Ray is blessing us with music we can cry, hug and make love to. Maybe we should be thanking New Edition. They might be one of the reasons artists like Trey Songs and Chris Brown do what they do.
