After a short hiatus, Keyshia Cole is back, and in a much happier place. During the time off, the singer focused on motherhood and marriage to NBA player Daniel Gibson. In doing so, the singer has found a sense of peace.
The single “I Had Enough of No Love” tells of a strong woman who is fed up with a relationship where she isn’t appreciated. But don’t confuse the sorrow-filled songs on Cole’s upcoming album “Woman to Woman” as a true reflection of where the singer is in her life. Cole told Essence Magazine, “I’m in a happy place now. However, some of my fans are not. So I brought on a bunch of writers this time around… obviously I’m not in that place to write those kinds of songs.” She continues, “I think that I’ve grown vocally and I think a lot of the songs are touching to me.”
Even “Family First,” the upcoming reality show that will show her husband, son, and mother Frankie won’t be like the “The Way It Is,” her prior reality show. “It’s just a different view of me and what I’ve been through,” she said. “You won’t see Neffe on the show. However, I wish you would have.”
In related news, Cole performed “I Had Enough of No Love” for the first time at the Essence Music Festival in early July (see below). Cole commanded the stage in an all-white shorts ensemble as she belted the tune minus guest Lil Wayne.
Both her album “Woman to Woman” and show “Family First” are set to premier this fall.
