It’s a good feeling to be Rihanna in the United Kingdom this week. First she ends BBC Radio 1’s Hackney Weekend with a bang, performing for 50,000 fans this past weekend. Now it’s confirmed that RiRi has sold a combined total of 20 million singles and albums in the United Kingdom, reports the Official Charts Company.
Her solo material and notorious collaborations alike have made the list of biggest selling singles in Great Britain. The official list is below:
1.) Rihanna FT Calvin Harris We Found Love
2.) Eminem FT Rihanna Love The Way You Lie
3.) Rihanna Only Girl (In The World)
4.) Rihanna FT Drake What’s My Name
5.) Rihanna FT Jay-Z Umbrella
6.) Rihanna S&M
7.) Rihanna Rude Boy
8.) David Guetta FT Rihanna Who’s That Chick
9.) Rihanna Disturbia
10.) Rihanna Russian Roulette
Other chart-topping feats for the 24-year-old include becoming the only female artist ever to achieve the Official Singles and Official Albums Chart double TWICE in the same year with different singles and albums with 2010’s ‘Loud’ and her most recent project ‘Talk That Talk.’ And while we’re talking about RiRi’s achievements, might as well mention the fact that Rihanna is also the only female artist in the history of the Official Charts to have featured on five Number 1 singles in five consecutive years (2007’s Umbrella, 2008’s Take A Bow, 2009’s Run This Town, 2010’s Only Girl In The World, and 2011’s We Found Love.
Between Rihanna and Adele, the charts don’t stand a chance. Martin Talbot (the Official Charts Company’s Managing Director) made an eye-opening correlation between the two when he said, “There certainly must have been something in the water when she – and Adele three months later – was born in Spring 1988!”
Maybe chart-topping dust was sprinkled in the water then.
