“(For God’s Sake) Give More Power To The People” is the first offering from Joss Stone’s forthcoming album ‘The Soul Sessions Volume 2,’ which is the sequel to her 5 million selling 2003 debut ‘The Soul Sessions.’ On the funky cover of The Chi-Lites 1971 classic, Stone gives a riveting performance about empowering people to make the world better.
“I really had fun revisiting ‘The Soul Sessions’ idea and I’m really pleased with the results,” Stone tells Billboard. “I’ve committed long-term to my label Stone’d Records, but it felt right to team up with Steve Greenberg and S-Curve again for this release. I think there are some great songs on the album and I loved performing them with such brilliant musicians.”
Recorded in Nashville, “The Soul Sessions Volume 2” will feature eleven songs including cuts of ’60s and ’70s tracks like “Pillow Talk (Sylvia),” “The Love We Had (The Dells),” and “While You Were Out Looking For Sugar (The Honey Cone).”
“The Soul Sessions Volume 2” is due in stores July 31 via Stone’d/S- Curve Records. Worldwide tour dates will be revealed soon.
