It looks like the best way to feel truly appreciated is to make people miss you. This week’s Top 10 Most Popular R&B Singles are led by three artists who have been away from the music scene for more than two years each, forcing listeners to gravitate to their old material.
Two years ago Ciara dropped her fourth album ‘Basic Instinct’ to disappointing sales numbers, leaving her without a recording contract. Since then, she has reunited with music executive L.A. Reid on his Epic Records for her fifth album ‘One Woman Army.’ After recording new materiel with Hit-Boy, Tricky Stewart and the Underdogs, she dropped “Sweat,” a sticky, bass heavy track with breathy vocals. The record has led to many clicks on Singersroom, putting her atop of this week’s Top 10 Most Popular R&B Singles.
Stans of Tweet can finally rejoice as the “Southern Hummingbird” singer readies her return, the follow-up to 2005’s ‘It’s Me Again.’ As part of her #TweetTuesday promo, she unleashed a rendition of “Day Dreaming,” a record original performed by Aretha Franklin. Tweet undoubtedly mesmerize listeners with her sultry tones and heart-warming melodies as she day dreams about the kind of guy she wants. For that reason, she locks down the second position on the tally.
Miss Tiffany Evans surprised us with news that she has been happily married for two years and expecting a baby; all this while readying a project that finally identifies who she is as an artist. In building anticipation throughout the week for her Friday single release of “If You Love Me,” Evans poured her soul on the ballad, which sees her singing about wanting love.
