With little time left before she was set to take stage at Hot 97’s Summer Jam 2012, Nicki Minaj backed out of her scheduled performance. The Young Money Rapper reportedly dropped the performance after radio personality Peter Rosenberg dissed her song “Starships,” calling it “wack.”
Rosenberg reportedly told the crowd that Minaj “better not perform that wack a** ‘Starships’ track.” In addition, the radio DJ said Minaj was “no longer ‘real hip-hop’.”
Young Money boss Lil Wayne didn’t take the diss lightly, quickly going to Twitter and writing, “Young Money ain’t doing summer jam,” while Minaj followed with Wow. U n***az just f***ed up history. But the President has spoken. #YMCMB.”
Minaj continued: “I go above and beyond for my fans. But won’t ever go against wayne’s word. What he says, goes,” she added. “Had a HELL of a f***ing lineup. But we won’t b disrespected.”
Young rapper Tyga was the only YMCMB artists to take stage.
