Hidden Beach, the record label that introduced Jill Scott to the world, will release a remix compilation series of their former artist’s songs. After ten years and three studio albums, Scott and Hidden Beach parted ways following a lawsuit that was settled in court, which granted the boutique label ownership rights to Scott’s early recordings.
The first album dropping this summer is entitled ‘Crates: Remix Fundamentals Volume 1: Jill Scott Spring Summer Feeling.’ Hidden Beach secured DJs and producers including DJ Jazzy Jeff, Ron Trent, Mr Mig (Beyoncé), Ca$e Boogie (Young Money), and Jaymes”Th3ree Fourteen” Ball (Maybach Music) among others to create an eclectic collection of remixed hits.
Ron Trent, an accomplish house producer, was excited to participate in the creation of the album. “It was an honor to have offered my rendition of ‘Spring Summer Feeling.’ I paid close attention to the integrity of her voice also keeping with the uptempo roots of R&B and Afro-Beat flavor,” says Trent.
Adding about his new creation, a trans-formative ten minute record, he says “The misconception is dance music is something divorced from R&B when it is historically one in the same.”
