Monica’s New Life Makes Top 5 Debut

Monica returned to the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart this week, thanks to her “It All Belongs To Me” led album “New Life.”

Moving 69,000 copies, “New Life” is this week’s highest debut on the Billboard 200.

Debuting at no.4, “New Life” is also Monica’s fifth straight top 10 album, following the 2010 effort “Still Standing.”

In related news, Lionel Richie tops this week’s Billboard 200 with “Tuskegee.”

Moving 129,000 copies in its third week on the chart, “Tuskegee” is Richie’s first Country effort following classic R&B/soul hits both solo and with The Commodores.

Richie was recently honored by the Academy of Country Music, pushing sales of the album up following the CBS special “ACM Presents: Lionel Richie & Friends in Concert.” Watched by 7.7 million viewers, the special was taped after the annual ACM Awards earlier this month with performances from Jason Aldean and more.

“Tuskegee” is Lionel Richie’s third no.1 charting album overall, featuring collaborations with a who’s who in Country including Blake Shelton, Willie Nelson, Kenny Rogers, Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts and Shania Twain.
