Grammy Award winner Dionne Warwick fought back tears as she sat down for an interview with Good Morning America Thursday. Breaking her silence, following Whitney Houston’s death, Warwick says everything is “surreal”.
“She was basically the little girl I never had. Whitney is and will always be very, very much alive here,” Warwick said pointing to her heart.
According to Warwick, Houston’s focus and energy in the days and hours before her death led her to believe she was on the right track.
“She was so up and ready and happy,” Warwick told GMA. “She had everything in the world to live for.”
While it has been nearly a month since Houston passed, Warwick has been holding on strong, admitting she has not truly mourned over her cousin’s death.
“I have not really had an opportunity to mourn or completely break down, which I will do. I know that,” said Warwick. “I think the comfort comes in knowing she’s in good hands now.”
