Gladys Knight Honored to be Dancing With The Stars

R&B/soul legend Gladys Knight is honored to be one of several cast for the soon-to-premiere season of Dancing With The Stars.

Speaking out following her big announcement Monday, Knight says “its a pleasure and honor to be a contestant.”

Knight wasted no time following the official cast release, getting right to rehearsals with partner Tristan MacManus Tuesday.

She joins Jaleel White (Family Matters), Gavin DeGraw, Sherri Shepherd, and more on the forthcoming season of Dancing With The Stars.

Knight’s stint on Dancing With The Stars follows her role in Tyler Perry’s “I Can Do Bad All By Myself” and theatrical stints in Las Vegas, most recent, an engagement at the famed Tropicana Hotel in the newly named Gladys Knight Theater. In fact, Knight is the first African- American performer to have a venue named after her in Las Vegas. Her hits include “If I Were Your Woman,” “Midnight Train To Georgia,” and “Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me.”

Dancing With The Stars premieres Monday, March 19 on ABC.
