Former Destiny’s Child member Michelle Williams switched gears in her career to focus on theatrical performances. After the release of her third solo album ‘Unexpected’ in 2008, Williams held stints on Broadway, London and Chicago. She wrapped up 2011 with a twenty-eight city tour, starring in David. E. Talbert’s stage-play, ‘What My Husband Doesn’t Know.’
After gaining a wealth of experience as a thespian over the past few years, Michelle is ready to return to her musical roots.
“This year I need to focus on the music. I haven’t released an album since 2008 ’cause I got caught up in theater. So, I’m just excited to get back to music,” she said.
The Grammy Award winning singer has not announced whether the album will gravitate towards her Gospel or nonsecular creative origins but, she recently stated that fans should expect inspiration and dancing.
“The sound and themes that I’m going for are inspiration and some hope that still makes people dance and think positive of situations in the world,” she says. “It seems that everything going on now is so heartbreaking. I just want to remind people that we still have lives to live and purpose to fulfill.”
