Adele, Whitney Houston Dominate Post Grammy Album Chart

The post-Grammy Award sales surge played out well for ’21’ singer Adele. According to Hits, the Grammy Award winning album, “21,” sold an additional 716,000 copies last week, adding to already mega sales achieved in 2011.

Adele not only saw a surge in sales for ’21,’ which has been in stores for almost a year and remained atop many charts in 2011, but increased sales of ’19,’ her last album.

Sources say that album will slide into the top 10 when final charts are revealed. Likely with 86,000 copies sold.

Whitney Houston’s music lives on this week, dominating the Billboard 200. Her best selling project, a “Greatest Hits” package, sold around 170,000 copies.

More on the Grammy sales surge is to be revealed later today on Billboard. As in years past, Grammy winning acts tend to see major increases. Esperanza Spalding saw a sales lift of 476% after she won Best New Artist in 2011.
