In the beginning of 2011, Jazmine Sullivan announced on Twitter that she was taking a break from music to figure herself out.
“I’m making an official announcement that I am taking a break from music,” Sullivan tweeted. “I’m trying to figure out who I am…w/out a [mic], paper or pen.”
After a year of soul searching, Ms. Sullivan returned to Twitter to broadcast she has returned to the studio to work on her third album.
“So I’m in the studio writing a freak nasty song [with] pops my mom and two aunts… Lol. #uncomfortable,” Sullivan tweeted. she later adds, “Btw… I’M WORKING ON MY NEW ALBUM!!!”
Throughout her time away from music, fans have demanded the young singer’s return, as many declare her as an important voice of her generation. She has received high praises from peers, veterans and music insiders since her break-through debut album ‘Fearless.’ She has been honored as Billboard’s ‘Rising Star,’ and nominated for eight Grammy Awards, amongst various other accolades.
Sullivan is in the early creative stage of her upcoming album so no release date has been scheduled.
