Mary J. Blige Preps Original Song For ‘The Invisible War’

The Queen of Hip Hop/Soul might have been snubbed out of an Oscar for her original song, “The Living Proof” (The Help), but that is not stopping her.

Attending the Sundance Film Festival recently, Blige and Producer Amy Ziering revealed the fact that she is penning a song for another film.

Titled ‘The Invisible War,’ the documentary focuses on sexual assault in the U.S. Military. Harrowing, the story examines the trauma suffered by female and male victims of rape at the hands of their military colleagues and the difficulty they experience trying to prosecute their attackers.

‘The Invisible War’ was screened at Sundance along with features from Spike Lee and Ice T. The latter of the two premiered the music documentary ‘The Art of Rap’ Saturday. Featuring interviews with Kanye West, Nas, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre and more, the documentary takes a hard look at Hip Hop and its evolution.
