Alicia Keys Nominated For Directors Guild of America Award

Alicia Keys directorial debut of the short film ‘Lili’ earned the Grammy Award winning singer a nomination for a Directors Guild of America Award. Keys earned the achievement in conjunction with Demi Moore, Patty Jenkins, Penelope Spheeris and Jennifer Aniston for their directorial participation in Lifetime’s ‘Project Five’ movie, which consisted of five short films exploring the impact of breast cancer.

The “Un-Thinkable” singer will compete for a opportunity to win the Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Movies for Television and Mini-Series. Winners will be announced at the 64th Annual DGA Awards January 28, 2012 in Los Angeles.

Currently, Keys is producing music for the Broadway play “Stick Fly.” Her new album should arrive later this year.
