2011 ‘VH1 Divas’ To Pay Tribute to Amy Winehouse

The late soul singer Amy Winehouse will be honored at this year’s ‘VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul’ concert. The network announced on Thursday that the event will pay a special tribute to the singer with performances by Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine, and Wanda Jackson.

The tribute will honor Winehouse’s contribution to soul music, as well as reflect on her life and legacy. Florence will collaborate with Wanda Jackson to perform the late singer’s hit “Back to Black,” while Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings will perform “You Know I’m No Good.”

This year’s ‘VH1 Divas’ special will be feature performances by Mary J. Blige, Kelly Clarkson, Florence + The Machine, Jennifer Hudson, Jessie J, and Jill Scott as the headlining divas. Each ‘diva’ will pay tribute through not only their own soul-inspired songs, but some of the greatest classics as well.

Other performers for the show will include Chaka Khan, Erykah Badu, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Boyz II Men, Estelle, Marsha Ambrosius, Travie McCoy, Anita Baker, Mavis Staples, Wanda Jackson and Ledisi, with The Roots as the house band for the night.

The performances will honor the soulful cities of Chicago, Detroit, London, Memphis and Philadelphia, as the ones that inspired them and their music.

The special will air on Monday, December 19 at 9 PM/8c on VH1.
